US President Donald Trump called the Emir on Tuesday. Trump “expressed his condolences and sympathy,” according to the Amiri Diwan. Sheikh Tamim responded by extending “profound thanks and appreciation” for the president’s gestures of support.

Regional leaders traveled to Doha for the funeral reception. Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, and Kazakhstan’s Kassym-Jomart Tokayev all paid respects. Iraq’s President Nizar Amidi and Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani also attended.

Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch represented North Africa at the ceremony. Libya’s Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and Lebanon’s Nawaf Salam led delegations to honor the late Father Emir of Qatar. Oman dispatched Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, deputy prime minister for defense affairs.

Gulf Cooperation Council nations were well represented. Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa attended alongside Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah arrived with several ministers and prominent figures.

The widespread international attendance highlighted Sheikh Hamad’s significant role in shaping modern Qatar. His leadership transformed the nation into a regional economic and diplomatic power. The Father Emir remains revered across the Gulf and beyond for his visionary governance and diplomatic initiatives spanning decades.
